Ok, I admit it I have a wedding dress problem. I am addicted to collecting them. I think it is the lace.... It seems I have somehow unintentionally recruited friends into the wedding dress craze of mine. I got a text last week saying OMG I found this wedding dress you are going to love it! Well here is it or part of it above and I do ADORE it. So much lacy pretty frills and buttons.. and $20! WHAT??? Seriously, how can I go wrong with that! So I am a proud owner who has decided to drown my newest purchase in a tea bath. Red Rose tea none the less.
All I do is fill the tub with water - preferably warm to hot water, toss in about 8 tea bags let it sit for 15 minutes to steep and then in goes the dress. I am leaving this dress in for about 8 hours or longer to see if I can get a deeper richer stain. I will be posting the results as well when done. To dry the dress it is drip or air dried, and if needed I will do a light iron. I tend to like the look or wrinkles for my shoots however.. so will see how the end results are.
What I like about tea staining is the cost $8 for the box of tea (large box I have done a few dresses already) It's not permanent, and if I want to I can use fabric dye after the fact. So I get a few colors, feelings and uses out of the same dress.
Well that is it... keep you posted on the results.
