Here’s the thing about living (and photographing dogs!) on Vancouver Island — we are absolutely spoiled when it comes to stunning outdoor backdrops. Beaches, forests, open fields… every turn feels like a postcard just waiting for your dog to run through it.
And because I’m a pet photographer who’s constantly scouting new spots across the Island, I’ve learned a few things about where the magic really happens. So, if you’re wondering where we could go for your dog photography session, let me spill a few of my favourite Vancouver Island photo locations — all tried, tested, and totally dog-friendly.
Beaches have this soft, painterly light that makes every image glow — especially around sunset. That golden light bouncing off the water? Pure magic.
If your pup loves wide-open spaces, chasing waves, or simply sitting pretty in the sand, a beach session is perfect. And honestly, watching a dog run full-speed down the shoreline never gets old.

Bonus tip: Beach sessions are ideal for wall art and albums — we can capture those sweeping scenic shots and intimate close-ups that tell a full story.
Locations I adore:
If your dog feels most at home under the trees, surrounded by moss and filtered light, a forest session might be your spot. These images have a quiet, peaceful feel — perfect for dogs who prefer a calmer, slower pace.
The mix of texture, color, and that soft, diffused light gives these portraits a timeless, fine-art feel — especially in fall.

Locations I adore:
There’s something beautifully simple about open fields — tall grasses, wildflowers, and room to run free. These sessions have that natural, relaxed vibe that feels like summer afternoons that never end.
If you’re dreaming of bright, airy photos with a sense of freedom, this is it. We’ll capture the goofiness, the laughter, and the real connection between you and your dog.

Client’s Choice – Let’s Go Somewhere Meaningful
Have a favourite trail? Backyard that feels like home? Maybe a cabin or place your dog loves to visit? We can absolutely go there. Sometimes the most meaningful images come from a place that already holds a piece of your heart.
Best for:
This is especially lovely if you're thinking of a custom album full of “this is us” moments.
When we plan your session, we talk about all of this—your dog’s personality, energy level, comfort zone, and what kind of artwork you want at the end. The best location is the one that feels right for your dog and for you.
Let’s pick the perfect spot and make some magic.
Whether it’s beachy and bold or quiet and foresty, your session will be one to remember. [Let’s plan it together →]
