Powder Session

This is a very specialized type of photography that involves using coloured powder to create a dynamic powerful image of  a subject’s motion in a photograph.   Powder is most applied directly to a subject, and then explosive movement explodes the powder off the animal. The result is eye-catching and dramatic. This is captured in-camera and is not a digital effect simply stamped onto a photo after the fact.  Every image is unique!

Book NOW

THE PROCESS

This is an in-camera process and not a photoshop 'stamp' in post production. All we do is apply powder to your dog and let ‘r rip!

This is a group event for a reason. To keep this session running smoothly, please come prepared to both handle your own dog and help with any of your friends who booked with you.

Normally we have two people involved per dog: the helper (who places powder on the dog before each repetition) and the handler (who calls their dog through the obstacle and rewards)

3 THINGS TO KNOW

THE DOGS WILL GET DIRTY (as will you!)

Pigment tends to linger, on dogs and on their people - days or even weeks. If your dogs complete in events, CKC/AKC does not allow dyed dogs to compete.

Do not bathe your dog before or immediately after a session. Bathing will remove oil from the dog’s coat that acts as a buffer to the pigment, and bathing immediately after makes the pigment stick.

CAN ANY DOG PARTICIPATE?

Sessions require a consultation to go through the process, and assess if your pup is a good candidate.  Not all dogs, are bomb proof, and can be distracted by the flash, a new environment, other dogs that may be waiting their turn, or simply the application of the powder.  A consultation is a MUST before booking.

I would like a Powder Consult!
