PUPPIES & PETALS
May 18 2026 | By: Kim Yanick Portraits
Spring is hands down my favourite time of year for pet portraits—and for good reason.
Everything about this season feels fresh, bright, and full of life. The trees are just waking up, flowers are bursting into colour, and the light… oh, the light. Spring mornings have this soft, golden glow that makes everything feel a little more magical—especially when you add a happy pup into the mix.
For years, I’ve admired a stunning wisteria tree in my town. Every spring it blooms into the most incredible cascade of purples, and every year I told myself, this is the year I’m going to shoot there. And every year… I missed it.
Not this year.
When the blooms finally appeared, I put out an early morning model call and made it happen. We met just after sunrise, when the light was soft and the world was still quiet, and spent time capturing joyful, colourful moments with these sweet pups surrounded by the blossoms.
And honestly? It was everything I had imagined—and more.
The combination of playful dogs, dreamy florals, and that soft spring light creates portraits that feel vibrant, emotional, and full of personality. These aren’t just photos—they’re little snapshots of your pet’s spirit during one of the most beautiful times of the year.
Spring sessions like this are short-lived—those blooms don’t last long, and that’s part of what makes them so special.
If you’ve been thinking about updated portraits, or you love the idea of capturing your dog surrounded by flowers and colour, this is the perfect time.
Pups and petals—what’s not to love?
Can you picture your furry friend in a scene like this?
