Big Sky Session

Smudge and Darby aren’t just dogs, they’re woven right into the heart of this family. Smudge is Harper’s joy-giver, always close by, while Darby is the comedian of the bunch—equal parts entertainment and farm guardian. Corrie knew it was time for something more than quick phone snaps. As she shared, “I wanted something that would last my lifetime to remember them and how important they are to me.”

The session didn’t go exactly as planned—and that’s what made it perfect. Partway through, the skies opened up and the rain poured down. Instead of running for cover, everyone laughed. “We were laughing our asses off when we got caught in the rainstorm! I loved watching how much fun the dogs were having.” That unexpected moment ended up being one of the best memories of the day.

During our reveal session with Corrie and Harper (Smudges fav human) , there were plenty of smiles and some honest laughs too. There were lots of gasps of ‘OMG, they look like such nice dogs,’ followed by 'but I know the truth—they are shits.” That mix of polished portraits and real-life personality was exactly what they wanted.

And then there’s Darby’s wide-angle portrait. That one has become the family favorite. “We have that photo as screen savers, on our phones, in my husband’s office. It is everywhere.” It’s not just a photograph—it’s a piece of their life they can’t stop looking at.

In the end, the family summed it up simply: “Kim was amazing to work with.” For them, these portraits aren’t just images. They’re proof of joy, laughter, and the kind of love that makes a family whole.
